The layout uses four 4ft by 2ft 6 inch baseboards of lasercut birch plywood, cut by Tim Horn baseboards. Some additional parts are used for a protective edge and to pair up the baseboards. A backscene about 5 inches high will run down the middle of the baseboards.

The track on the layout uses peco setrack and flexi track, with points of the streamline insulfrog LH and RH type. The track layout includes passing loops, goods siding headshunt (operational), Military yard, branch shuttle line, and single and double track sections.

There are 2 fiddle yards with 5 storage sidings each about 4 ft long. Passenger trains will be limited to a maximum of 8 coaches, and freight trains will be various length up to about 4ft.

The layout will feature a town or suburb on the left side and a country setting with a MOD Military barracks (Army based) with rail access on the right. This is a prominent feature in Oxfordshire region and around Salisbury Plain (example - Ludgershall).
